Important Announcements

Financial Aid and scholarships for spring 2010 may be viewed on MyTech, by selecting the Award Overview option under the Financial Aid Information tab. Financial Aid will not appear on the Spring 2010 E-bill. If a student’s total financial aid award is enough to cover 100% of the tuition and fee amount, they will not need to make a payment or set up a payment plan, and their class schedule will not be cancelled on January 12. If the total financial aid amount does not cover the amount of the tuition and fees, the student should set up a payment plan or make payment for the remaining balance. Students who have not completed the loan process to finalize or decline their 2010 Stafford loan award, may do so now on Loans by Web. Funds that are fully accepted are scheduled to begin applying to student’s accounts on January 4, 2010.

Access the TTU/TTUHSC Employee’s Dependent Scholarship application. Application deadline date is September 15 for fall terms and February 2nd for spring terms.

General Scholarship Information

The TTU Scholarship Office is dedicated to helping undergraduate students with scholarship needs. We award undergraduate need-based scholarships, merit-based scholarships, process all scholarships for Texas Tech University, and host a list of outside scholarships that are available. Texas Tech University distributes over $20 million in scholarship money annually and awards scholarships on the basis of academic achievement and/or financial need. Financial need is rarely the primary factor considered, but it is often used to make a decision among equally qualified finalists. Many scholarships have additional qualifications.

MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

By applying for admission, you have already applied for merit-based Texas Tech University scholarships. No additional application is required. These scholarships include the President’s Platinum, President’s Gold, and President’s Silver Scholarships. More information about merit-based Texas Tech University scholarships can be found here. http://www.scholarships.ttu.edu/Meritscholarship.aspx

INSTITUTIONAL COMPETITIVE SCHOLARSHIPS

Institutional competitive scholarships are scholarships awarded by Texas Tech University colleges, academic departments, and the financial aid department. These scholarships also include President’s Freshman Diamond, President’s Transfer Diamond, and President’s Freshman Ruby Scholarships. More information about institutional competitive scholarships can be found here.http://www.scholarships.ttu.edu/InstitutionalScholarship.aspx

SCHOLARSHIPS TO QUALIFY FOR NON-RESIDENT FEE WAIVERS

A non-resident student may be eligible to pay in-state tuition rates if he or she receives an institutional competitive scholarship or merit-based scholarship award or awards totaling at least $1,000 for the academic year and/or summer for which the student is enrolled. A scholarship is considered “competitive” if an official Texas Tech University scholarship committee awards the scholarship and the recipient competes against other students, including Texas residents, in order to be selected for the award.

PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Private scholarships – or Third Party Scholarships - are scholarships that are not controlled or awarded by the university, but by the donors themselves. The money is awarded by third party donors and then sent to Texas Tech to be disbursed. More information on how to apply for these scholarships can be found here. http://www.scholarships.ttu.edu/SearchScholar.aspx
